A native of Los Angeles, California, Joy Foster attended Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Following graduation with a major in biology, she obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Foster relocated to Southern California to do an internship in internal medicine at UC Irvine. She completed a diagnostic radiology residency program at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, California and subsequently received her fellowship in Body Imaging from the University of California Irvine. She was also fortunate to do a rotation at Huntington Memorial MRI under the leadership of William Bradley MD, FACR.
Dr. Foster is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and has extensive experience in musculoskeletal MRI. She served as the medical director of Emeryville Advanced Imaging for many years and worked closely with orthopedic surgeons for the Oakland Raiders as well as the Golden State Warriors.
Dr. Foster is committed to community service and is the current President of Sinkler Miller Medical Association, a non-profit chapter of the National Medical Association.
She is married and both she and her husband are avid cooks and love to travel.
